About Dead Strike

Dead Strike is a wave-based first-person zombie shooter that tests your accuracy under relentless pressure. You defend a fortified position against escalating waves of undead, swapping between an arsenal of weapons—pump-action shotguns for close-range crowds, assault rifles for sustained mid-range fire, sniper rifles for picking off special infected at distance, and grenade launchers for clearing dense hordes. Headshots deal triple damage and are essential for conserving ammunition during later waves when zombie counts exceed fifty per wave. Killstreaks unlock devastating support abilities: five consecutive kills trigger an airstrike, ten unlock a turret deployment, and fifteen activate a screen-clearing napalm run. Between waves, you spend earned credits on weapon upgrades, ammunition refills, and barricade repairs. Zombie mutations introduce variety—toxic zombies leave poison clouds on death, armored zombies require focused fire on weak points, and charging berserkers close distance terrifyingly fast.

Dead Strike Review: Our Hands-On Impressions

Dead Strike is the browser zombie shooter I did not know I wanted. It is a wave-based first-person defense game where you hold a fortified position against escalating undead hordes, and it manages to deliver genuine tension despite running entirely in a browser tab. I have played enough Flash-era zombie shooters to have low expectations, but the weapon variety and killstreak system here give it more depth than I anticipated.

You start with a basic loadout defending a barricaded position. Zombies shamble toward you in waves, and you pick them off with mouse-aimed fire. The weapon arsenal is where the game finds its tactical identity. The pump-action shotgun handles close-range crowds when zombies breach your perimeter. The assault rifle provides sustained mid-range fire for general waves. The sniper rifle picks off special infected at distance before they reach you. The grenade launcher clears dense clusters but chews through limited ammunition. Switching between these weapons based on the current threat is the core gameplay loop, and it works because each weapon feels distinct in damage, fire rate, and effective range.

Headshots deal triple damage, and learning to consistently aim for the head is what separates surviving wave ten from surviving wave twenty. In early waves, body shots are fine because zombie counts are low. By wave fifteen, fifty-plus zombies per wave make ammunition conservation critical, and headshots become mandatory. I burned through ammo repeatedly before internalizing this, and the game does not hold your hand about it.

The killstreak system adds a power fantasy layer. Five consecutive kills trigger an airstrike. Ten unlock a turret deployment. Fifteen activate a napalm run that clears the screen. These rewards create incentive to maintain accuracy under pressure, and the turret in particular can save a run when you are overwhelmed. Between waves, you spend earned credits on weapon upgrades, ammunition refills, and barricade repairs. I learned the hard way that barricade repairs should be prioritized over weapon upgrades—a broken barricade lets zombies swarm from all directions, and no weapon upgrade saves you from being surrounded.

Zombie mutations introduce variety. Toxic zombies leave poison clouds on death that damage you if you stand in them. Armored zombies require focused fire on weak points, which means precise aiming under pressure. Charging berserkers close distance terrifyingly fast and are the most dangerous regular enemy type. Getting caught reloading when a berserker charges is almost always fatal, which taught me to reload between waves religiously.

Visually, the game leans into a dark, gritty aesthetic. Blood splatter, muzzle flash, and zombie death animations are all serviceable. The FPS view is smooth on desktop with mouse aiming. On mobile, drag-to-aim works but feels less precise for headshots, which puts mobile players at a disadvantage during later waves.

The difficulty curve is relentless. Each wave increases zombie count, introduces tougher mutations, and reduces the interval between waves. Most players consider wave twenty a strong run, and I have not gotten past eighteen yet.

Compared to other browser zombie shooters, Dead Strike stands out for its weapon balance and killstreak rewards. Target audience is action game fans who enjoy wave survival and weapon mastery.

Pros: distinct weapon roles, meaningful killstreak rewards, good mutation variety, barricade management adds strategy. Cons: mobile aiming is imprecise for headshots, ammo scarcity in late waves can feel punishing, no save between sessions. Despite that, the one-more-wave pull is strong.

How to Play Dead Strike: Controls

  • Desktop: Mouse to aim, left-click to shoot, right-click to aim down sights. Number keys 1-4 to switch weapons. R to reload. G for grenades.
  • Mobile: Drag to aim, tap the fire button to shoot. Weapon icons for switching. Auto-reload when magazine empties.

Tips and Strategies

  • Tip 1: Always aim for headshots—they deal 3x damage and are the only efficient way to conserve ammo in later waves.
  • Tip 2: Reload between zombie waves, not during them. Getting caught reloading when a berserker charges is almost always fatal.
  • Tip 3: The shotgun is your emergency weapon. Keep it loaded for when fast zombies breach your barricade perimeter.
  • Tip 4: Invest in barricade repairs before weapon upgrades. A broken barricade lets zombies swarm you from all directions.

Key Features

  • Four weapon classes with distinct tactical roles and upgrade trees
  • Killstreak system unlocking airstrikes, turrets, and napalm runs
  • Multiple zombie mutations including toxic, armored, and berserker variants
  • Barricade management system adding strategic resource allocation

Dead Strike FAQ

Dead Strike has endless waves that grow progressively harder. Each wave increases zombie count, introduces tougher mutations, and reduces the time between waves. Most players consider wave 20 a strong run.

No single weapon dominates. The assault rifle is most versatile for mid-game waves. The sniper excels against special infected from distance. The shotgun saves you in emergencies. A balanced loadout outperforms any specialist build.
